Steamed up a bucket load of veggies, the remainder of last weeks purchases.

Lori and l went down to Yokohama for our work out with Patrick, l was very un Japanese and ate my lunch on the train.

The Royal wedding, went to an English friends house to watch the Royal wedding, there was free flowing Alcohol, l enjoyed my Water and took my dinner with me, weakened and had some Lasagne, Lori said she would tell Patrick on me, so Lori here l am owning up to it.

Day 14

A beautiful sunny day today, strong winds which meant bad for allergies, have been told its going to be bad this month Hinkoi, japanese cyprus, my allergies where bad all day which brought down the motivation to do exercises. Had a shitty day with work emails and that too put a damper on the exercies, got over it all and before going to dinner with some friends got fired up to exercies.

Meals today where not so creative, lunch had slices of tuna sashimi that l ended up cooking, some japanese rice and veg curry and green leaves, l have been lacking in the salad department this past week.
Dinner was at Cicada, had my Mineral water, my friends where very accomodating with the meal ordering and keep refering back to Richard G on how good he looks and give me moral support. Thanks Rich.

lets hope tomorrow is a better day as it is the start of Golden week a mix of Japanese holidays, friday this week and next tuesday to thursday.Lori and l will be going down to do a work out with Patrick in the afternoon,if any one else on the program lives in tokyo, we can arrnage to go down on saturdays to see Patrick.

Cheers

Day 13

Another day has passed by, doing the exercises in the morning gets me off to a good start, am not sure how that will go next week when l will start work, will need to be on the ball and organised  but l can see it now, will sleep in and do the exercises in the afternoon.

Was feeling the effects of last nights curry, was lazy for breakfast and had my home made veg curry and poached egg and pita bread, ( l gave Lori some curry for her dinner tomorrow night) l was given some pita samples from a vendor, who is wanting to import them into japan, they tastes like crap, it was like eating cardboard,

Lunch chicken stir fry no salt, no soy sauce, chillies and fresh coriander,
Dinner chicken breast cut thinly and coated dry in sesames seeds not sure if its allowed ? the teflon pan is getting good use, salad of radicchio, fennel minimal dressing fresh orange juice, apple cider vinegar and grain mustard plus a few veggies.

Had a small work out at gym, needed to be around people, working from home has its advantages some time one needs to be surrounded by people.
Met up with Lori to say good bye to our friend who's is leaving for Australia who's  name is Lori as well, went for a coffee which is so not me at Lori at 9.30 pm, in our previous life we would have been meeting at the bar for a Vodka or Jack and Coke.I did notice tonight there are a lot of single Japanese females who seem to go out for tea or Coffee in the evening, l did not know this scene existed.

Lets see how tomorrow goes with the jump rope.

Stay happy every one

Day 12

Woke up ealry this morning, no body aches and dediced get the exercies out of the way, I discovered that the small park, behind my house, infront of Aoyama cemetry is ideal for doing the work outs, especially the  incline pull ups.

Breakfast decided on a differnet approach today, toasted whole wheat bagel, egg, spinach and pumpkin fritter- roesti,
Steamed puumpkin, spinach, nutmeg, milk, greated zuchinni mixed it all up in a bowl with a fork the  pumpkin being soft bound the mix together, In a non stick pan made two small patties , cooked them until crisp on both sides, I  used 50 mls of yoghurt to cut down on the milk drinking , nutmeg and chopped corriander or cilantro, this was used as a sauce for the fritters and bagel.

I felt pumped for some reason today and was  on a mission to get on with the day enjoying the sun shine & riding the scooter around tokyo,s both my meals are out today and no need for cooking will enjoy some one elses cooking.

Dinner tonight will be southern Indian cuisine, my two mates are big drinkers, l will enjoy my water or tea.

Breakkie, spinach, zuchinni, pumpkin firtters

Day 11

Day 11,
Still no start date for work, and working from home,
I got stuck into breakast, by adding some milk to the egg to make scramlbed eggs, and reduce the milk in my coffee.

Lunch was stuffed green peppers with chicken mince and quinoa, did the work out mid afternoon, before heading off to a work meeting, felt pumped after doing the work out, lower back still hurting, wish the pain would go away as it limits my movements,

Squid stuffed with Quinoa

Eggs cooked in microwave
The afternoon was spent doing perp for the next day or two, having 2 gas burners to work on, slows down the prep time,it is making me think of different meal combinations, and not having salt is difficult for a chef to work with out.
Dinner was  stuffed squid,  did not know if the flaovors would work but they did,I  used last nigths left over quiona and Italian herbs to sprinkle over the squid, baked it in the oven for about 10 minutes on low heat then under the grill to get some color, made tomato sauce using tin tomatoes and fresh basil.

I left this comment on our weekly email , A qucik and easy way to cook a egg in the Microwave.

Eggs cooked in the microwave, I used to do this when l felt lazy but it works, not sure how about using butter, try pam spray or olive ol spary in a can,In a ceramic bowl use some spary to wet the bowl, break the egg into the bowl, cover with glad wrap, cling film, or sarin wrap depends what part of the world you are from, use a fork to poke some holes in the wrap, microwave on medium heat for about 30 to 45 seconds, check at 30 second mark other wise you will have an explosion.

Cheers

Day 9

Easter Saturday,  Got into the spirit of  Easter and made some Hot Cross buns,  with Organic whole meal flour, have never used the oven in the kitchen, managed to work out the settings and the end result was okay, my room mate pointed out they where a little burnt, slightly darker than they should be, trial and error using the oven.

Breakfast played around with Polenta,( Corn Meal)  I will  try where ever possible to include recipe's for other PCP to follow.  Poached egg  on polenta with oregano, spinach, avocado, sauteed red peppers and onions, cooked in a  fry pan with olive oil spray from the can.

Polenta 150 gm
water 500 ml
oregano a few flakes
bring water to boil, add polenta and stir with a whisk to avoid the mixture getting lumpy, turn heat down and  keep whisking until it sets, the mixture will become like a thick custard texture. Once cooked remove from pot and store on a flat tray.
You can use the polenta for another meal, once you know your portions you can cut to size and reheat in non stick pan or grill on the bbq.

After Brekkie, it was prep time and portioned my fruit and  for the next 2 days, then it was time to bake the Hotcross buns.

Lunch veggies, steamed chicken breast and bean salad broccoli, tomato, onions and fresh lemon.

headed to Yokohama with Richard G and Lori, met Patrick and did the work out,  had no idea what to do with the rubber bands, soon learnt how they work, I was in a lot of pain hurt my lower back yesterday, got thru the exercises and headed back to tokyo.
Dinner steamed cod fish fillet., Quinoa and veggies  I  sliced up some lemon grass to infuse the water added a few drops of toabsco to the fish to give it some extra spice and tang.

Its saturday night, its raining cats and dogs outside, I am too knackered to go out, the bean  bag is calling me.

Day 8

Went out shopping for fruit and veggies, my fridge is in shock, it has not had that much food in it for a while, it is used to having, minimal stock in it, coffee, milk, water and the odd veggies and fruit.

I now need to be focused on myself and plan my meals for the week, rather than worrying about peoples meals at work, it is time to take care of  myslef.

Tonight am goingt o a charity dinner where The Australian Prime will be ina attendance, have bene good and ordered a fish meal, being at the Imperial Hotel food is going to be very old fashioned, along with old waiters in their 70's.

Happy good friday to ALL,

Tony

Dinner was home cooked Korean food, my friends are moving to china and hosted a dinner at there house, they needed to empty the cellar and of load 3 botles of  Dom perignon champas, could not resist and had my half quota as 1996, 1998 and 2000 vontage where on offer.

Exercises are going well, growing up as a kid, skipping or jump rope seemed to be a girly thing or "sissy thing" if only we knew many years down the track the benifits of a jump rope.

My job is still on hold at the moment, was hoping to start this week,

Breakfast berries and Yoghurt again and Lemon myrtle tea.
l headed out to "Kappabashi "the cooks ware area in Tokyo where all restuarantuers go to buy equipment, l was able  to kill two birds with the one stone, do some research for work and look for some scales, the only  problem with this area is  most shops stock the same products and the shopping strip is about 1 km long. I ended up picking  up a great set of  scales. A small electric Pizza Oven, which will used for roasting but no Pizzas.
Had a mid morning snack from Mos Burger , only ate the beef patty and lettuce, the bun was smothered  Mayo, it ended up int he rubbish bin.

Caught up with a mate who is not working " on so called stress leave"  he is on a health kick and made what he called a veggie juice, l would say it was Veggie puree! spinach, apple and banana put thru the  food processor all quite chunky, it tasted not bad.
Lunch was Japanese, miso soup, salad, barley tea and  Sashimi thin slices of fish no more than 60 gms l would say  over steamed rice, had 2 mouth fulls of rice and  ditched the rest am not so keen on Japanese rice.

Decided to go for a bike ride as it was a beautiful sunny day, then thought Lunch out doors would be great, went to TYHarbor with friends, drove the car and played "Dad" doing the school rounds picking up my friends we all live within a 1km radius of one another, Tokyo is like a small village.
Lunch, Virgin bloody Mary, and lots of mineral water, ceaser salad & ribs not much meat on the ribs and oh a few french fries.

I got productive in the kitchen late afternoon, steamed some chicken breast with various herbs and spices, l used the broth/ water from the chicken to make vegetable soup, that will  keep me going during the week ahead.

Am enjoying skipping with the new rope l brought on Saturday it has a counter on it who would have thought of such an idea.

PCP

It's only a few days to go until l start the PCP, am looking forward to the hurdles, adventures and changes that will occur in the next 90 days. Relocating down to the coast of Izu will be a life style change for me, hoping not to experience any Tsunamis while l am there.
